我们知道GMAT语法有五个选项，好多时候选项还比较长，同学们在做题的时候往往比较懵应该先怎么样去排除啊，那今天我们就说一下先怎么排除，抓住选项里面明显的错误（硬性错误）进行排除，今天我们先讲2个，跟着青岛朗阁培训中心一起来看看吧！

01、整句话没有谓语动词

一个句子如果没有谓语动词的话，那一定是错的，我们来看下面的这个例子

1. El Niño, the periodic abnormal warming of the sea surface off Peru, a phenomenon in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine allowing the warm water that has accumulated in the western Pacific to flow back to the east.

(A) a phenomenon in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine allowing the warm water that has accumulated

(B) a phenomenon where changes in the ocean and atmosphere are combining to allow the warm water that is accumulating

(C) a phenomenon in which ocean and atmosphere changes combine and which allows the warm water that is accumulated

(D) is a phenomenon in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine to allow the warm water that has accumulated

(E) is a phenomenon where ocean and atmosphere changes are combining and allow the warm water accumulating

我们把原句断开一下

El Niño, the periodic abnormal warming of the sea surface off Peru, a phenomenon （in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine） allowing the warm water（ that has accumulated in the western Pacific）（ to flow back to the east）.

句首出现的名词El Niño是主语，the periodic…Peru 是同位语，a phenomenon 又是名词，后面是in which 的定语从句，allowing 是现在分词，属于非谓语，后面是that 引导的定语从句修饰water，还有allow sb to do 这样一个搭配，会发现整句话没有谓语动词，那这个句子一定是错的！

同样的道理我们会发现B 和C 选项也是没有谓语动词，一定是错的

这样我们就只剩下D 和E 选项了，通过对比这两个选项我们发现区别是where/in which，combine／are combing等主要的两个区别

划重点啦

在GMAT考试中，由于要求“准确，不含糊”，因此where用的并不多，因为他不能准确表明具体方位，是“in”“through”还是“on”。

由where引导的定语从句一般都由“介词+ which”引导的定语从句所取代，只有少量表示具体地方的，可以用where引导

另外这个句子是描述厄尔尼诺这个客观现象，这时候用一般现在时就可以啦，综合考虑这个题选D

02、主谓不一致

当我们在对比五个选项的时候，有时会发现有的是单数谓语有的是复数，那我们就可以先根据主谓一致去排除一些选项

我们来看一下例子

Diabetes, together with its serious complications, ranks as the nation’s third leading cause of death, surpassed only by heart disease and cancer.

(A) ranks as the nation’s third leading cause of death, surpassed only

(B) rank as the nation’s third leading cause of death, only surpassed

(C) has the rank of the nation’s third leading cause of death, only surpassed

(D) are the nation’s third leading causes of death, surpassed only

(E) have been ranked as the nation’s third leading causes of death, only surpassed

对比五个选项我们会发现有的是单数谓语有的是复数，这句话的主语diabetes，当我们不太确定它是单复数的时候，可以利用原文中没有划线的部分得到一些启示，together with its serious complications， 用的是its，说明diabetes是单数，它的意思是糖尿病，这时候我们就可以排除B\D\E  三个选项啦

对比一下A 和B 会发现only 的位置不同

划重点啦

√Only向后修饰

surpassed only by heart disease and cancer只被心脏病和癌症超越了，only修饰heart disease and cancer，说明没有被其他的病超越

only surpassed by heart disease and cancer只被心脏病和癌症超越了，only修饰surpassed，强调的是超越，而不是取代、影响等等

在这里既然diabetes 排名第三，说明only想修饰的应该是heart disease and cancer

所以答案是A 啦

我们还有其他的一些硬性错误，比如逗号连接了两句话、在复合句中只有从句没有对应的主句、代词没有明确的指代、逻辑主语错误、和未划线的部分不一致等等，掌握了这些点我们就可以先轻松排除掉一些选项了，这样会极大提高我们的做题速度和正确率。
